Vicky Cristina Barcelona
Recently, I caught this movie after a friend's strong recommendation, saying i will sure like it. Nevermind it screened in 2008, i admit i am slow in certain arenas of life.
Cristina is a social non conformist, searching for romantic and unfulfilled love, everything that deviates from the usual stable and socially acceptable love relationship. She has no commitments in life and is free to bask in empty novelties and persistent sparkles.
Vicky, on the other hand is a rigid and well-managed person. She analyses everything in life rationally and weighs costs and benefits of every situation. She has a Wall Street boyfriend, with a stable job and stable income, faithful persona and was ready to marry her in 2 weeks.
Both girls went on a short trip to Barcelona where they met a stranger, Juan Antonia. This intriguing man asked them to go on a trip with him to a small town in Spain where they could enjoy the breathtaking scenery, talk about life, sip some wine and make love.
Vicky eventually made love with Juan Antonia after an unexpected romantic night out with him. Of course, given her personality, she was caught in a whirlpool of confusion. She lost her initial determination to marry the guy she thought was so perfect for her. She did try hard to maintain her principles, but eventually lost her game to momentary temptation.
Cristina, obviously made love with Juan Antonia since she was looking for excitement and novelty. She soon found comfort in Antonia and spent the rest of her days in Barcelona happy and romantic.
Juan Antonia's ex lover Maria Lena, is a beautiful, hot, artistic, insane painter. She stabbed a knife into Antonia once after a heated argument. They were a match made in heaven, but it was just not meant to be. Maria came back to his home one day, and cristina was told Maria will live with them for at least a few months.
Strangely, when Cristina is around, Maria and Antonia's relationship stabalized. There were no more arguments, no more violence, no more attempting to kill each other. She was the missing ingredient in their consistent fiery relationship, just like the missing bit of sugar in a bland chocolate bar. Cristina made love with Maria. She also made love with Antonia. She eventually convinced herself that she is in love with them both. Cristina is in a relationship with both Maria and Antonia.
Eventually, there might just be no fixed rule to any relationship.
1) Who says a rational and decent person will never cheat.
2) Who says a relationship can just involve 2 person, what if the relationship indeed has a missing ingredient.
3) What is the difference between loving a person and being in love with a person.
Think about that. Goodnight, World.
